U5 Age Group

Training is run by Ferranti Empowerment

  • Engaging soccer training that inspires players to love the game, build character, and execute decisions with confidence and autonomy.
  • Age group-appropriate skills, activities, and games.
  • Specific vocabulary and curriculum that progresses throughout the season and entire intramural program.

Logistics:

  • Saturdays 9-10am @ Chestnut Hill, 600 South Service Road, Dix Hills NY 11746
  • Meet near the entrance/fence at Chestnut Hill School
  • This program meets for 8 sessions/days
  • On the first day, you will receive a Dix Hills jersey
  • Please mark your calendars for the following dates:September 14, 21, 28, October 5, 19, 26, November 2, 9
  • You will receive an introductory email from the club one week prior to the start of the season

What to Expect:

  • Once you arrive, the Ferranti Empowerment coaches will direct you on what to do
  • Parent participation is highly discouraged for this age group
  • Trainers will help players adjust and encourage them to develop autonomy
  • Players will participate in age-appropriate activities for 30-40 minutes with the aim of building basic skills
  • Following the skills activities, the players will be randomly separated into teams and participate in a 20-30 minute game
  • Some players may be frightened or uninterested in playing at this age. We encourage you to remain patient and optimistic and allow them to explore. 
  • There will be an end-of-the-season festival (in lieu of trophies) to emphasis a focus on development and fun within the community

What to bring:

  • Water
  • Cleats
  • Shin guards for protection 
  • Soccer socks go over the shin guards to hold them in place
  • Dix Hills jersey (provided by club)
  • Optional to bring a size 3 ball; We will provide balls as well

Weather Policy

  • In the case of inclement weather, you will receive an email from the club at least one hour before your scheduled session
  • Makeups are not guaranteed, however we will do our best
  • Some options to be prepared for are Sundays (a double header) or on a holiday weekend

Uniforms

A Dix Hills Soccer Club jersey will be provided on the first day.

EQUIPMENT TO PURCHASE: Black shorts or sweatpants, shinguards, black soccer socks, and cleats, size 3 ball.

PROHIBITED: sneakers, earrings, jewelry, baseball caps, or cast of any kind. EYEGLASSES: Children who wear glasses MUST have either protective safety goggles over regular glasses, or wear plastic sports goggles specifically designed for athletic use.
