Background
The Club has three soccer programs:
Intramurals
consist
of registered club players ages four to nine . Teams in the specific age
divisions play each other for approximately 10 weekly games per season.
Inter-league
can
begin at age 9. It is a continuation of our intramural program where the
numbers of our registered teams fall short of a full age division. It includes
playing both home and away against other clubs participating in the Suffolk
Soccer Interleague and Nassau Pre-Travel.
Travel
is the
highest level of soccer within the club. It begins for children who are 9 years
old. Players must try out for competitive teams. Travel is highly regulated by
the Long Island Junior Soccer League.
REFEREE PROGRAM
The Dix Hills Soccer Club has one of the best referee
programs on Long Island . We conduct training for all referees and run classes
annually. We need new referees for our intramural and inter-league games. If
you are interested in refereeing for the DHSC, please send an e-mail or leave a
telephone message on the DHSC hotline (631-243-6814). Clearly state the nature
of your request, your name, and your address. The Long Island Soccer Referees
Association is in desperate need of referees, and offers a comprehensive
training program. Contact LISRA for further information.
TRAINING PROGRAMS
The Dix Hills Soccer Club is firmly committed to ongoing
training for players and coaches. We encourage coaches to complete formal
licensing classes (A, B, C, D) and to attend LIJSL seminars. We support team
trainers. The club sponsors clinics for our younger players. Soccer Success,
headed by Cordt Weinstein, the club's head trainer, runs a very popular summer
soccer camp for the DHSC. Parents and coaches who are involved with soccer for
the first time are encouraged to take the LIJSL four-hour D class.
